Xcalibur Eureka, Missouri
Xcalibur was originally manufactured in Germany,
and erected at a Six Flags park in New Jersey in 1999. It
weighs in at over two hundred thousand pounds and looks like
a large swing set, with a vertical shaft where the swing would
hang. This cutting-edge ride combines the slinging action
of a catapult with the rapid rotation and breathtaking excitement
of a looping action to create a unique ride experience.
ACME sent representatives to the New Jersey site to observe
and assist in the ride’s disassembly, and then re-erect
the ride at Eureka. It is located in an area of the park
where
access is difficult, at best. The terrain in the area slopes
eight feet from one side to the other, making placement
of
the cranes erecting the ride very difficult. In addition,
access to this portion of the park is so restrictive,
tractor-trailers carrying the components could not negotiate
the curves in the roadways, and each had to be lifted by
crane
to make the corners. ACME’s expertise and experienced
personnel provided Six Flags with a fast, professional installation
to support the opening of the ride for the 2003 spring debut.
