Tower Automotive is a leader in the manufacture
of automotive components. They manufacture body structures,
lower vehicle structures, suspension components and modules
for nearly every major automotive manufacturer in the world,
including: BMW, Daimler-Chrysler, Fiat, Ford Motor Company,
Freightliner, General Motors, Honda, Navistar, Nissan, Toyota,
Volkswagen and Volvo. They have over seventy locations on
four continents, including this suspension component manufacturing
plant in Granite City, Illinois.
ACME Erectors has executed projects for Tower,
including the design, fabrication and installation of an
overhead,
telescoping cantilevered hoist. Utilizing the services of
a preferred engineering supplier the hoist beam was designed
to extend and retract approximately 10 feet to provide alternate
access for production when adjacent machines were in use.
ACME was also on site to install equipment, including structural
supports, to provide a means to transfer and rotate automobile
frames on the production line.
