Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts St. Louis, Missouri
This piece, albeit the smallest in size of
all the artwork ACME installed for Ms. Pulitzer, was by
far
the most challenging. This piece in its final state is stabilized
by the gravitational force of the top plate alone pushing
down on the bottom plate. As shown, it leans against the
wall at an angle. The bottom plate doesn't touch at the topand
the back
must be aligned perfectly with the plane of the upper plate
in order to work.
The PFA has a full time guard stationed in
front of the sculptures to ensure the protection of its visitors.
That should give some kind of indication as to the complexity
of this piece.
ACME utilized full size mock-ups to plan
the installation process. "This installation was an
awesome display of planning and coordination and should firmly
imprint
our presence in this business as the premier art installer,"
said Aron Clay, V.P.
