Residential and Commercial Renovation
Project St. Louis, Missouri
In an area which was once known as the “garment
district” in downtown St. Louis, stands a historic,
seven story building formerly home to a large
number
of clothing manufacturers. With the businesses long closed,
an ambitious $49 million program was undertaken
to renovate the structure and turn it into residential and
commercial occupancy units.
ACME Erectors, under contract to Clayco Construction, the
owner’s Construction Manager, received a $1.5+ million
dollar contract to perform the selective structural renovation
of the facility. This work includes the general reinforcement
of the existing cast-iron columns, miscellaneous steel
for
framing a new interior, seven-story atrium, structural framing
for slabs, miscellaneous new columns, elevator wall reinforcements
and all framing for the floor, columns and roof of a new
rooftop penthouse. In addition, ACME was responsible for
the replacement
of selected wood flooring in the building and installation
of a support system to create the entrance to the underground
portion of the structure being converted to a parking garage.
