Parking Garage Precast St. Louis, Missouri
St. Louis Community College is a multi-campus
institution offering the opportunity for its enrollees to
earn degrees in various fields. The Forest Park Campus is
one of SLCC’s largest and is located in the very congested
mid-town area of St. Louis. With its student enrollment
expanding, and limited space available on site, the executive
board of SLCC elected to construct a 500 car parking garage
to ease congestion.
The design-build contract for the garage was
awarded to Tarlton Corporation, General Contractor, and Weber
Hampton Associates, Architect. Their proposal called for the
construction of a 120,000 SF, post-tensioned concrete structure,
and clad in architectural precast panels. The contract for
the erection of the simulated red brick panels was awarded
to ACME Erectors. ACME erected the one hundred eighty panels,
which weighed as much as thirty thousand pounds without incident,
in approximately twenty-two work days.
