Dross Treatment Project

St. Louis, Missouri

Big River Zinc Corporation is a wholly owned subsidiary of Korea Zinc Company, Ltd., and is located across the Mississippi River from downtown St. Louis, Missouri, in Sauget, Illinois. This location is home to its 100,000 ton per year, electrolytic refinery, which produces refined zinc metal, zinc alloys, zinc powders, zinc sulfate monohydrate and zinc oxide. The facility also produces over 150,000 tons per year of electrolytic or commercial grade sulfuric acid and is a producer of high quality cadmium oxide.

ACME Erectors was selected by Big River Zinc to install process equipment for its Dross Treatment Project at the facility. ACME’s scope of work consisted of the installation of numerous pieces of equipment, including a Ball Mill, Bucket Elevator, Screw Conveyor, Shakers, Storage Bins, Drag Conveyors, Cyclone and a large Bag House. In addition, ACME installed all the ducting, both for air collection and product, and several personnel access platforms.
