Dross Treatment Project St. Louis, Missouri
Big River Zinc Corporation is a wholly owned
subsidiary of Korea Zinc Company, Ltd., and is located across
the Mississippi River from downtown St. Louis, Missouri,
in Sauget, Illinois. This location is home to its 100,000
ton
per year, electrolytic refinery, which produces refined zinc
metal, zinc alloys, zinc powders, zinc sulfate monohydrate
and zinc oxide. The facility also produces over 150,000 tons
per year of electrolytic or commercial grade sulfuric acid
and is a producer of high quality cadmium oxide.
ACME Erectors was selected by Big River Zinc
to install process equipment for its Dross Treatment Project
at the facility. ACME’s scope of work consisted of
the installation of numerous pieces of equipment, including
a
Ball Mill, Bucket Elevator, Screw Conveyor, Shakers, Storage
Bins, Drag Conveyors, Cyclone and a large Bag House. In
addition,
ACME installed all the ducting, both for air collection and
product, and several personnel access platforms.
