Rush Island Power Plant Festus, Missouri
All of the following work at Amerens facilities
was done under the National Maintenance Agreement.Passenger/Material
Elevator – At Ameren’s Rush Island Plant, ACME
Erectors contracted for a number of projects, including the
installation of steel framing for a new passenger/material
elevator. This work consisted of installing structural steel
to create the 290-foot elevator shaft and a roof top penthouse.
The bulk of the steel was conventionally set, but the roof
top penthouse steel was set utilizing a helicopter. Access
to the elevator was by seventeen platforms that were created
within the framework of the powerhouse.
Boiler Access Platforms – ACME was awarded the installation
work for the modification of existing platforms and installation
of new steel to create new access platforms. All structural
framing was hand set, and all new grating and handrail was
installed to match the existing.Boiler Modifications –
ACME Erectors contracted for the installation of two, forty-foot
air dampers, and one for each unit, at the site. This work
required that the existing intake ductwork be modified for
this installation. This modification allowed the client
to
better control the flow of air to the boilers, thus resulting
in more efficient operation.
